Dr. Irena Zalewska, M.D., earned her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, MI, and her fellowship in Gastroenterology at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, MI.

Dr. Zalewska is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.  She is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Zalewska has presented and published original papers and abstracts on a variety of topics in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. She speaks fluent Polish.

Dr. Zalewska practices at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, MI, at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, MI, at Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital in Grosse Pointe, MI, and at the Eastside Endoscopy Center in St. Clair Shores and Macomb Township, MI.

Her main office practice is located at G.I.Medicine Associates, P.C. in St. Clair Shores and Macomb Township.

Dr. Zalewska's practice is dedicated to diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, the liver and pancreas, with special interest in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and endocapsule studies.
