Dr. Mohammed Barawi, M.D. received his Doctorate of Medicine from Damascus University School of Medicine, Damascus, Syria. He completed his medical training in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Gastroenterology at Southern Illinois University, Springfield, IL where Dr. Barawi also served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology.

Dr. Barawi also completed fellowships in Therapeutic Pancreatobiliary, Indiana University, Indianapolis, IN and one year training in Endoscopic Ultrasound at Winthrop-University Hospital, Mineola, NY.

Dr. Barawi is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Barawi practices at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, MI, at Beaumont Gross Pointe, MI, at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, MI  and at the Eastside Endoscopy Center in St. Clair Shores, MI.

His main office practice is located at G.I. Medicine Associates, P.C. in St. Clair Shores, MI.

Currently, He is the Medical Director, Endoscopy Unit, of St. John Hospital and Division Head, Department of Gastroenterology, St. John Hospital.

Dr. Barawi has published original papers and abstracts on Endoscopic Ultrasound and other Endoscopic procedures. His practice is dedicated to diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, the liver and pancreas with special interest in Endoscopic Ultrasound, diagnostic and therapeutic ERCP including stent placement and small bowel enteroscopy.
